Chronic Soft Tissue Injuries

We are specialists in the treatment of chronic tendon injuries. Repeated re-injury, insufficient or failed initial treatment results in the progression to chronic injury. This mainly affects the ligaments, tendons and occasionally muscle attachments of the body. The most commonly seen chronic injuries at the clinic are:

  • Shoulder tendonitis
  • Medial epicondiylitis ( tennis elbow )
  • Adductor tendonitis ( groin strain )
  • Patellar tendonitis ( jumpers knee )
  • Achilles tendonitis

Chronic Soft Tissue

In the past these injuries have been very difficult to treat and have resulted in lengthy absences from sport and competition. Two recent advances in the treatment of the above are Platelet Rich Plasma Injection (PRP) and Extra Corporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT).These are providing excellent results for this type of chronic injury. These treatments have only recently been introduced into Ireland and both are available at the clinic.
